Africa in Action: A Peer Reviewed Journal With A Focus On Education, Culture and Development

Africa in Action (AIA) is a peer-reviewed journal associated with Grace Foundation. The journal focuses on issues affecting the African region and draws from interdisciplinary areas dealing primarily on education, culture and/or development. AIA seeks to provide a medium by which to significantly improve the synergy between and the quality of life for local, regional, and communities in Africa. As the title suggests, Africa in Action promotes active scholarly discussion, research, and practices that increase understanding and continuously move the region forward.

Submissions for Publication

The journal is published once a year in the Spring. Submission for publication is opened for everybody, consideration provided the topic of the paper relates to some aspect of the African region and the mentioned areas of studies.

General Publication and Editorial Guidelines

• All papers must be submitted using the online submission form provided
• All papers must be accompanied by a short abstract of no more than 200 words
• AIA accepts manuscripts submitted in other languages. Provided the manuscript is accompanied by an English version.
• AIA will publish original articles and essays of almost any length Format- APA Style
• Manuscripts submitted for review must not have been published previously or simultaneously submitted elsewhere
• All published work remains the property of their respective authors
• Upon submission, the author(s) affirms that (s)he is (are) the original author(s) of the work submitted and grants Africa in Action the irrevocable right to publish the said material in both printed and electronic form
• All publication inquiries will receive a response within 8-10 weeks or sooner
• AIA reserves the right to edit material according to space availability and other format constraints
• Major revisions, however, will only be made after consultation with the author
• There is no compensation, monetary or otherwise, for published articles
• We welcome feedback on all published articles and encourage our readers to submit formal rebuttals and opinions on published material

Review Process

The review process takes approximately 8-10 weeks. The Editorial Board adheres to the following process upon submission of a manuscript:

• The Editor, in consultation with the Board of Editors, determine if the manuscript is appropriate for the journal
• Upon agreement, the Editor removes all identification of the author(s) and distributes the manuscript with a reviewing guideline to 4 peer reviewers

The reviewers return the manuscript and provide any of the following decisions:

• Accept
• Accept with minor revisions
• Accept with major revisions
• Reject, but reconsider after resubmission
• Reject.

The decision is forwarded to the author(s) and includes comments and recommendations from the reviewers.

If applicable, the author(s) has 4 weeks to resubmit edited manuscript to the Editor via email.
