The importance of education in breaking the poverty circle cannot be over emphasized. The scholarship program helps fund the educational needs of students at all levels of education: primary, secondary and Tertiary. According to the Nigerian Millennium Development Goals 2005 report, literacy level in the country has steadily and gradually deteriorated. By 1999, the overall literacy rate had declined to 64.1 % from 71.9 % in 1991. This declining literacy rate is symbolic of socio-economic hardships faced by many struggling families- who cannot afford to send their children to school.
